Just long enough for procrastination purposes (okay, maybe a little longer than that), but it’s such a pleasure to watch!
So fun fact about me…I don’t picture characters in my head when I’m reading or writing. Obviously when writing I have a character sketch in my mind, but I don’t SEE the character as so many people do…I admire yet don’t GET the people who are able to do the “My actor pic for this character” thing on Goodreads. This revelation led to a loooooooong discussion between myself and Britt wherein I figured out that I just don’t SEE a character even as I write them.
I genuinely wonder if it’s due to having number form synesthesia (something I didn’t even know was “a thing” until a 60 Minutes report made me scream HOLY S**T THAT’S ME!!!!!!!)…my current job involves processing and rattling off strings of numbers, and there are times when I almost have to put my finger on the computer screen and read it out like a child, because I just can’t READ a string of numbers. Numbers to me exist in a three-dimensional shape, and have ever since I learned them (including learning them in Spanish courtesy of Sesame Street!).
So anyway, yes, there’s a point to all this. Back when we were finishing Pistils, for fun one day, Britt and I made a private Pinterest board of our personal visualizations of the characters (and for the record, she is AMAZING at finding the absolute perfect picture for these occasions). I found The Perfect Picture that gave me conflicted feelings about a main character of the book/s. Click on if you want to see! Continue reading
We found out last night that the lovely and talented Olivia of Often Clueless, Always Shoeless had nominated us for The Liebster Blog Award! Thank you Olivia!
The basics are as follows: it originated in Germany and was intended to recognize blogs with (insert number here, it’s changed over the years) or fewer followers. You get to share random facts about yourself, you answer questions about yourself, then you nominate the next bloggers. You probably meet some new friends too!
Obviously, the originators of the Liebster Blog Award have never met Kate and Britt. BWAH HA HA HA!!!!!!
Kate normally gleefully deletes anything even remotely resembling a chain letter, to the point that even her Facebook friends don’t bother tagging her anymore. This one was kinda fun, though, and we actually enjoyed reading random facts about Olivia, someone we only have the pleasure of knowing in cyber-life. So we’re going to play along, and put our own twist on it, as we always do. Continue reading
Note: From time to time (okay, a lot of the time), Britt and Kate do something fun and semi-crazy when they’ve been working too hard and need a laugh. This is one of those times, but it’s actually pretty informative about our characters whether you’ve read Pistils yet or not. We hope you enjoy…

So we have a firm release date…April 1st! No April Fool’s Day joke (I hate those even more than waiting), it’s soooooo close I want it to be tomorrow!!! No, I want to move the day up to today! I want to be able to scream and yell and dance and Tweet and fling business cards like confetti!
But then I remember…patience is a virtue. Ugh.
I force myself to remember that we have an actual schedule put in place for a reason, to make sure nothing is rushed, to make sure nothing slips by us. I still have things to cross off my to-do list, and things to add to that to-do list (adds “Buy mini-bottle of bubbly” to list). That there’s a reason we picked the day we did, and that if we just stick to the plan A-Team style, it’ll all come together.
Everybody please think nice thoughts for Britt…the death-flu-turned-pneumonia decided to harsh our pre-release week and she can barely even text me. Not fun since we live nine hours apart and I can’t come over with chicken soup and chick flicks to make her feel better!
So in the meantime…when it comes to recovery from the blargh-flu and the release date…well…Vizzini speaks for both of us.
Just a quick post here, being that Britt and I are taking a self-imposed week-long vacation from all things Pistils for clarity (HAHAHAHAHAHA, anyway) as we await our paperbacks…she’s going to Vegas and I’m going to relax. Maybe.
So here is something quick and easy that makes me happy…websites that are so sweet (and I mean AWESOME, not fluffy bunnies) that they give me a toothache!* Check ’em out!
Forever Young Adult: Does what it says on the tin, but it’s my go-to for their Vampire Diaries recaps. Go ahead, judge away, see if I care!
Television Without Pity: Has forums and recaps for almost EVERYTHING! What is especially nice is that their forums are heavily moderated, so spammers, trolls, and morons are weeded out at warp speed. They do have fairly strict (but fair) rules about posting, so read those over before you fling yourself into the latest Blacklist discussion.
1bruce1: They have recaps of almost all the Sweet Valley books. Mission accomplished, nostalgia achieved, ’nuff said.
WatchMojo.com (YouTube channel): Are you a total sucker for anything involving a COUNTDOWN?!?!? I know, me too. Tell me about a show counting down the Top 10 Most Boring Things on Earth, and I’ll watch it. This YouTube channel takes the countdown thing to a whole other level…they have hundreds? thousands? of countdowns, ranging from Top 10 Movie Crime Bosses to Top 10 Creepy Kids Movies.
And finally, drumroll please…one of my hands-down favorite places to go when I need a laugh…Cleolinda, aka Occupation: Girl! Everything she writes is made of win, but you must must MUST check out her Movies in 15 Minutes (seriously, this is not an option, you MUST) and if you’re a Twilight fan (or not), check out her Twi recaps. The Secret Life of Dolls, although not updated in a long time, is also worth reading. Just…not at work. They may mistake your choking and wheezing as a dire medical emergency as opposed to restrained laughter.
Do you have a favorite (or even favorite guilty pleasure/toothache)? Please feel free to share it here, I’m always looking for new ones!!!
*(c) Clueless, or at least that was the first place I heard the expression!
